I edited this post for readability and to refresh the information as people are asking.&nbsp; Then I reviewed post&nbsp;WordPress re-tool.&nbsp;&nbsp;I also edited this Knee Exercises post to re-tag and re-categorize to fit the new blog location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Some context and background \u2014&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Disclaimer &#8211; <em>First of all I am not a doctor nor physician and I am only sharing the lessons learned.&nbsp; If you come across this, be advised that this is for informational purposes only and medical advice should be sought by a practicing and license Physical Therapist or Doctor.&nbsp; <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>What I am, I am an endurance sports hobbyist that is reasonably intelligent and sharing info that would have beneficial to me \u2013 I didn\u2019t know that I needed this info until I encountered the problems.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"nfd-container nfd-text-md nfd-wb-text__text-1 wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"nfd-max-w-prose wp-block-group is-vertical is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-c0ca7d81 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"nfd-text-xl nfd-text-balance wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><b>Analogy and helpful information<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Dr. put it like this, the knee is like a lonely violinist or flutist when expecting a full orchestra\/symphony \u2013 what he said is the violinist or flutist is well-positioned and can play the music and the pieces all by themselves, but the fullness of the orchestra is lost.&nbsp; In the case of the knee, it often leads to over stress, and injury\u2026.the knee can meet over 23 angular planes\u2026but who goes to the gym to work on a great hip abductor\u2026.because of this understanding the supporting instruments in the orchestra, in this case, the muscles and tendons of the knees, hips, hamstrings, glutes, soleus etc are all vital to a masterful and safe performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"nfd-text-xl nfd-text-balance wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><b><b>What were my symptoms?<\/b><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">I went from no activity to well \u2013 see my post on <a href=\"https:\/\/happyinthehills.com\/zentriathlete\/transformation-tuesday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transformation Tuesday (click here)!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">My knee was OFTEN warm to the touch during training and I went to the Dr. X-rays and other tests validated that there was no structural or muscle damage (the repairing enzymes in the knee, cartilage and muscles cause the heat sensation \u2013 this is similar too, but not caused by infection).&nbsp; During my 70.3 Ironman in St. George in 2015, my knee rendered me walking and locked up a bunch on course (<a href=\"https:\/\/happyinthehills.com\/zentriathlete\/2015-im-70-3-ironman-st-george-race-reflections-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click Here to see post<\/a>).&nbsp; About half way through my event, I was having binding and aching and clicking and well, it was a nightmare.&nbsp; There were multiple times in training i just pushed through what I thought was discomfort and tightness.&nbsp; In retrospect, the analogy above was spot on, I was bringing a single instrument to the symphony and not doing anything else.&nbsp; I learned a lot about biomechanics and the interoperability of muscular skeletal systems.&nbsp; fast forward to April 2020 \u2013 I take for a week normal dosing when I feel any stress or aches or pains. The Doctor also gave me about 10 more exercises \u2013 which I lost and are not a part of this posting.&nbsp; Once I began the exercises, I did start pedaling (cycling) after about 10 days of complete no activity, but I DID NOT run for 4 weeks\u2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"nfd-text-xl nfd-text-balance wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Follow the pictures, do each 2 or 3 times a day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Do the following exercises after noonish \u2013 the reasoning is waiting this long to allow for the blood in your body to be readily circulating from the other activities in the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Complete 3 sets of each exercise (6 pictured below)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Do 12 \u2013 18 reps each<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Frequency \u2013 do multiple times a day at first<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">At First I did 4 times a day first 2 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Then 3 times a day the following 2 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">&nbsp;Over time you can taper down.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Currently in June 2022, I do these exercises maybe one time a week and 2 sets of each exercise doing 15 reps each. The Hip Abductor exercise I also do in the pool almost every time I swim.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"nfd-container nfd-wb-features__features-26 wp-block-group alignfull\"
