Sometimes I have to read and listen multiple times because my brain is in too many places at once.  As I revisit this Timothy Egan work &#8211; in audio format this time, a line came across that stopped me cold today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cOne day Simmons had a religious vision &#8211; of a uniquely American hate society guided by god\u201d.<\/p><cite>&#8211; this Simmons can be scratched here &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Joseph_Simmons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Joseph_Simmons<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"> As I connect reconstruction era dynamics with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edward_Bernays\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edward_Bernays\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Edward Bernays<\/a> PR tactics &#8211; some phrasing Is being redeemed and recharacterized in plain sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/59WN2psjkt1tyaxjspN8fp?si=2a5fbf3ebbe34c68\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/59WN2psjkt1tyaxjspN8fp?si=2a5fbf3ebbe34c68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Rage against the machine<\/a> isn\u2019t that far off I imagine &#8211; some of those that burn crosses &#8211; their lyrics parade\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s late, my kiddos are restless and I had an off watch swim with a curious conversation at the pool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">There is a lot of noise out there these days &#8211; so I turn within and insure my resilience and adaptability is in tact so I can help carry the heavy weight of helping my family navigate these chaotic and volatile times. The best place to hide a secret is at the tip of one&#8217;s nose &#8211; it&#8217;s also a great place to hide deception!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you haven\u2019t read this book it may be of interest- but it\u2019s not for the faint of heart.
