It feels familiar, even when it\u2019s just a script to manage volatility, not a promise of care.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Organizations are engineered to protect the systemic structure(s) first, especially when the ground starts to shake. In uncertain markets, that instinct becomes the operating model \u2014 the language softens while the decisions harden.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Whether that reflects malice or something else is anecdotally debatable, but the impact on people is the same. As Tutu pointed out, the mouse doesn\u2019t care whether the elephant\u2019s weight is intentional or neutral \u2014 it still gets crushed. Performative neutrality hits the smallest bodies the hardest.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can still show up fully \u2014 invest in the mission, build real relationships, contribute to the culture \u2014 but it helps to see the terrain clearly. Participation isn\u2019t protection.
