{"id":7596,"date":"2010-11-16T04:32:00","date_gmt":"2010-11-16T04:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in-response"},"modified":"2026-04-12T20:37:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T20:37:37","slug":"in-response","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/happyinthehills.com\/zentriathlete\/2010\/11\/16\/in-response\/","title":{"rendered":"In response!"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/11\/12\/AR2010111202857.html?hpid=opinionsbox1\">Ted Koppel: Olbermann, O\u2019Reilly and the death of real news<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/\">www.washingtonpost.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To  witness Keith Olbermann \u2013 the most opinionated among MSNBC\u2019s  left-leaning, Fox-baiting, money-generating hosts \u2013 suspended even  briefly last week for making financial contributions to Democratic  political candidates seemed like a whimsical, arcane holdover from a  long-gone era of television\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>I respond with this little quote from the ever so controversial Adolf Hitler and his writing Mein Kempf.&nbsp; I suppose sometimes birds of a feather aren\u2019t always as easily noticeable these days\u2026..Happy reading: <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGenerally, readers of the Press can be classified into three groups:<\/p>\n<p>First, those who believe everything they read;<\/p>\n<p>Second, those who no longer believe anything;<br \/>\n\u2026\u2026<br \/>\nThird, those who critically examine what they read and form their judgments accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Numerically,  the first group is by far the strongest, being composed of the broad  masses of the people. \u2026 Under this category come all those who have  not been born to think for themselves or who have not learnt to do so  and who, partly through incompetence and partly through ignorance,  believe everything that is set before them in print. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>The  second group is numerically smaller, being partly composed of those who  were formerly in the first group and after a series of bitter  disappointments are now prepared to believe nothing of what they see in  print. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>The third group is easily the smallest, being composed  of real intellectuals whom natural aptitude and education have taught  to think for themselves and who in all things try to form their own  judgments, while at the same time carefully sifting what they read. \u2026  In the majority of cases these readers have learnt to regard every  journalist as fundamentally a rogue who sometimes speaks the truth. Most  unfortunately, the value of these readers lies in their intelligence  and not in their numerical strength, an unhappy state of affairs in a  period where wisdom counts for nothing and majorities for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adolf Hitler, \u201cMein Kampf\u201d\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Does Mr. Koppel share similar thoughts? hrmmm?
