Targeted Activity and Focus Points
SWIM –
Speed work in the first one. Swam hard 50’s; was great feeling and concentrated on high elbow catch. Further after ran a full 500 endurance lap and did alright but slipped in pace

BIKE
First roll of the season and was cold toes. It was soon, nice to be back int he saddle. Aero for about 5 miles, it was quite different being some 25 or so lbs lighter than the last time i was saddled up in aero. It felt great not to have the sag in place. The ride was eventful with 4 brush by’s- drivers within the 3 foot zone. There was also one strong and fast dog that came hustling off the farm on highway 23 about 2 miles shy of the turn to Mendon, that got the adrenaline pumping. The second ride was great until I turned in Hyrum toward Wellsville. Let’s just say that was a character ride. I came home an ice cube and the shower remedied that. My focus was to stay straight.

RUN
Really not much going on here except logging miles and trying to extend my base. Keeping split’s consistent and trying to have negatives as often as possible are the primary focus with an emphasis on posture and breathing.

Weights and Strength
Concentrating on event disciplines and with being able to ride again, didn’t focus on strength but will next week while in hotels.

Weekly Reflections and Focus
It was good to have a week at home with Liz and Dennis and Juniper. her sleeping patterns are changing and she loves to cuddle up with me and own my chest as her sleeping real estate. Starting to get into the groove of things with being able to run and swim without worrying too much. Liz did meal prepping this week and this made m nutrition focus super easy. I think in a lot of ways this is what led to the surprise in the weight this week. Dennis was stoked at his blue and gold dinner to be part of the color guard. Further when he had his music presentation at his school that same evening he was making Juniper all giggles with his pleasant shenanigans. Dennis has been great and we hope he will continue to develop a great relationship with his little sister.

I think I helped Liz dial back some stress this week but it has been quite busy. One Wednesday i was able to go and run Smithfield canyon with some of our local running friends from he NERC group. I took off and ran the fastest I have run since freshman year in college and high school days. it was so good to hit that stride again. I am not sure if I can sustain something like that for some 13.1 miles, but I got a good glimpse of hope.

So far this is good, will circle back with some updates on sat evening or Sunday.
