Checkin’ IN!!!
Today was a fun run. Wellsville Utah has a fun run on labor day each year. It is known as the Founder’ Day Run. It’s a 7 Am start with a cannon that sounds to signal the start of the run. I’m sure there are a few “Get off My lawn” types out there, but most folks love it.
Today was nice because I was able to cruise with little juniper. Dennis was hyped, and with no encouragement took off and finished a minute or so in front of us. The 5k loop seemed more sensible seeing that last year the 10k seemed that she was at her limit. So up we got early at 6 am, scrambled to the bib check in and then off we went. Liz was a bit aloof due to pregnancy sleep. The last few days have been a bit disruptive for her as she prepares to bring little girl into this world.
So off we went. Along the way I could tell that Juniper was having a bit of a problem. So I sorta stopped got her hands under the blanket, got her another drink and off we went. Overall it was a solid run. I maintained an easy but consistent pace for the course. About 3/4 or so of the way through, I fired up a facebook live session so that Juniper would be a bit distracted and I think it helped overall. We passed Liz and her friend Laura on the way toward the final turn. Laura overslept and missed the start but was able to keep Liz company as she waddled toward Dennis and I. Laura was also able to capture a few photos – see below.
It was good to see a whole bunch of local running friends. Here’s a list of first Names:
- Chris Y – thanks for coming by and congrats on 2nd overall and a PR
- Mandi
- Heather – Thanks for coming by and saying hi, good luck with the store
- Don – thanks for checking in with me, let’s go run
- Adrian – it’s good to see ya out and getting your mojo back
- Chuck and Babette – coolest folks ever
- A new friend named Sonny – was nice to talk trail
- Roxie – always good to see a very positive and open-minded soul
- Mindi – I think you were awake by the second run in ?
- Linda – I saw you finish from afar chasing Juniper back and forth from the slides – well done
- Kade – Thanks for coming and hanging with us and for the pictures
- Danny and Brittany – you have a cool dad and good luck in your new place and hope the molds come through for ya
- Angie – Aren’t ya glad I did not run you over
- Meagan – Welcome back to the fast lane. Means I have to work harder to stay a few steps in front of you
- Shawn – thanks for coming to shake my hand
- and probably a few more this brain is forgetting, and some we saw but didn’t catch up with
So overall, a great day and the folks of the event do well. This one is not chip timed and only the Overal male/female is tracked 3 deep for the 5k and the 10 k. A good event for the money – 12 dollars pre race and 20 bux the morning of. You get a solid shirt. Anyway, we will probably do this one as circumstances allow for the time being into the future. That cannon start is awesome. Rise and Shine! Get off my lawn!
