I think Astrid captures how I feel lately ?
Checkin’ IN!!!
Well, I better start a post. Again, the holidays and other festivities of the family took the front seat. Not too mention the snow that dropped 17-ish wonderful inches of fluff, and the fun of clearing snow for 5 neighbors, just because. I have come to learn, its not always about asking and coordinating, rather its about seeing a need and filling the hole. Sometimes, service just shows up as an opportunity and one just has to say here I am and plug into it!
Other than that, I had my father come and join us. We celebrated the thanksgiving holiday with Friends. It was good to circle back and include friends. Where we live it isn’t always easy to travel or get others to travel to us. All choices have consequences and that sometimes is a bittersweet reminder although we love the place we have chosen to live. Logan, Utah. It is a wonderful place to raise a family like ours amid the myriad of choices through the grand ole’ USA.
Anyway, one of the things that I will start using to help with nutrition along the way is avatar nutrition. During the Thanksgiving holiday is often a rough time to settle into a new nutritional tracking methodology. Well, so I still kept things moderate and now its time to get serious. That being said. I am out of sorts but it’s ok! It is time for a re-calibrate. Its time to set up the bike trainer and get workouts in when and where I can. I have the holidays off beginning the week of the 13th, so I will have oodles of time for honey-do’s the kiddos and getting base workouts back to the plan. Then I have trips to Orlando and to Houston, so I can gain some momentum there. I have 21/22 weeks, A deferral decision in March and then choices to determine the next steps to accomplish a full in 2020 and welcome kidlet 4 along the way.
So, with that said, it’s time to get on the trainer and get back in the pool. Need to start where I am at and begin the long consistent training build. Let’s get to it!
Cheers!
I did get to the pool, after all. I read a thing on FB just before heading over and it was a rant about technique and analogies etc. What was even funnier, was there was a guy that came in about the same as I did, and at the front desk he left his pool toys bag. All I use is a pull buoy. I have re-iterated that a lot in my journaling/blogging. It was a simple reminder that we each have our patterns we develop. Many lead to similar outcomes, it brought a smile to my face when I heard this guy ask about his pool gear.
So, the gym my wife works at – she does one day a week in the kids Klub in order that we get a full family membership on trade. Love ya hun, this makes it so I can swim. This is a great deal for us, although I know at times she wonders why she does it, but I also think its a great thing for her to get out for 4 hours and interact with other gals, mainly, and see other kiddos and let our two younger ones interact with the kiddos at Kids Klub. That being said, the gym refreshed its locker rooms. New lockers and lighting, small adjustments to the layout and they fronted the windows between the showers and the changing areas. Small improvements, but I don’t like the lighting, everything else was good tho.
Anyway, the swim was good. I can tell I am out of fitness and its time to bring that back over the next few weeks. I need to ramp up my swims and start building runs and cycling. I don’t feel that I am behind, I just feel fat and flat and its time to get out of my ruts. So here we go, it happens to the best of us. Back to the grind.

Activities –
I use the following trackers:
- Garmin Connect (which pushes the files to the following services):
- Training Peaks
- Strava
- and the ones I don’t remember (Map my stuff via Under Armour and things like the Great Bicycle ride initiative stuff)
Honestly, I mainly use Training Peaks as I pay for an annual subscription on it now, and it is the most detailed in data and other helpful information to keep me where I want to go. Use the ‘Links’, then ‘Track me’ section to find and stalk me if that’s your thing.
