Firstly, I updated my quotes in my gmail signature to include these thoughts, it was time for an update:
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”
~~George Bernard Shaw
“There is no good or bad without us. There is only perception. There is the event itself and the story we tell ourselves about what it means.”
~~Ryan Holiday
“Always give your best, never get discouraged, never be petty; always remember, others may hate you, but those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them, and then you destroy yourself.”
~~Richard Nixon
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
~~Maya Angelou
“Almost universally, the kind of performance we give on social media is positive. It’s more “Let me tell you how well things are going. Look how great I am.” It’s rarely the truth: “I’m scared. I’m struggling. I don’t know.””
~~Ryan Holiday
Anyway, I really do not have FOMO, which is nice, but I did capture the end of the race and watched the battle at 70.3 IM St. George and witnessed Lionel Saunders and Sam Long battle it out until Lionel was able to dig a little deeper and finish with the win. It was good to watch and have fun despite staying at home and skipping this event. Sure, I could have gone down and muscled a sub 8 hour 30 minute day, but it would have hurt and it wouldn’t have been worth it. It was worth it however, to have the kiddos in hand or nearby and get excited.
This post didn’t go anywhere as I was busy with life, but my workouts on my bike were storng this week.
This was my first solid week in a long time. I need to have a lot of these from now until Oct 17th. That is the week before the IM in Sacramento on October 24th. Anyway, I missed my window to offload thoughts for me, but my headspace is strong and it was great to catch up and watch vicariously through the efforts of friends completing and competing in the 70.3 IM St. George. So, sometimes I journal well, and other times I don’t. Life is life! and its about adapting and solving one equation or a few at a time and then moving forward.
