all right all right all right it is a beautiful Monday morning it is November 27 I just wanted to jump in and get a triathlon related video log so I can get that posted I just concluded on Friday the nut tral study that I was involved in for Utah State University so I am in route to dropping off my veal matter for the last set of days um so this is the last

uh bios specim evidence that they will be tracking Etc but yeah so it was interesting because this nutritional study effectively what they’re trying to uh prove or demonstrate is the benefits of organic raised food um versus non-organic so we’ll see how that played out the interesting thing is that but uh they were great to work with so the dietician I think is pretty good she has assembled a good group of undergraduate researchers that are very passionate so that was nice um there groups of uh that do the photomy work is the way this worked is there were two main eating Cycles so those were broken down into 4 day periods and during that time at the beginning you gave blood in between you gave blood and

then

uh I asked if we cuz Liz loves blood work and where I had the potential autoimmune flare right before it was in September uh before I did my iron man in California in

October uh it’d be good to see all that um and anyways just we’re trying to figure out should I go ahead and do the uh DNA testing to try to find out if I have the genes for multiple sclerosis or other things cuz if I have those IND ators at least um there’s a good chance that you know it’s in the family we have um a lot of evidence and a lot of individuals that have had everything from uh ALS to Hod the hod kids um trying to remember the baseball player guy uh but anyways we’ve got Graves and then my aunt apparently have has an interesting one that is uh doing some curious things basically when the body her body she’s been having wounds and so when she has a wound essentially the autoimmune components basically turn her body against it and start eating it which is really kind of curiously weird um so anyways I’ll get back here in just a minute so overall I thought that was a pretty positive uh thing and then um I get compensated for it too so we’ll see how all that works out I should find out uh by way of checking about 2 weeks or so uh that compensation I don’t recall the exact but I thought it was handsome enough like hey I can do that maybe it’ll help me Kickstart a little bit on this stuff so Triathlon oriented now that it’s past Thanksgiving and now that um we’re going into the Christmas

holiday it’s time to start focusing and getting Beyond this wonderful injury it starts in the kitchen I I am heavier than I want to be because of the injury and it’s not an excuse that’s just with the injury and then I’m getting older I’m looking at I mean my 49th tour of the sun on this Third Rock From the Sun but anyways um I’d like to start getting some of that weight off if possible it’s not going to be it kind of primary focus but it will be a benefit um I got to get back to eating right and well uh and all of those things my wife is looking forward to that as well for herself so it’s time to start getting back on those trains in May uh St George is an option I need to reach out and see if I can stay with uh my an it was she had said that uh that is an

option that’s true that’s amazing it’s a 40 Cent drop um but yeah 70.3 in St George that is my kind of my favorite distance I can generally do that on five to no more than eight hours a week a training um where I’m currently at with again with the hip inductor this is where I start so I would like to start getting back to the pool uh 3 to four times a week now that my son has turned 18 team that’s going to be still a little bit more interesting cuz we are still a single car family he is yet to get his actual dri’s license he’s done most of the driver training he just needs to do two more uh an observation to drive and um yeah if we can get that going and he can find himself a way to deal with Transportation a little bit better CU it’s winter it is 20° out there right now it is a cold morning and so we as parents have focused more on just the stuff that you know we kind of got forgotten about and our growing up no it’s of no a our parents were horrible or anything it’s just it’s a different time when we have different means and we have tried to find ways to improve things that you know weren’t necessarily available for us we try to make it uh more available to our children so that they can have an experience that will allow them to be able to continue to grow and hopefully move the needle further than what we were presented um so we can evolve that’s what the Human Experience is all about through the generations and so that’s where we’re at um with getting to the pool um my my big concern is running of course and I think I think I’ve got enough Runway at this point that I’m going to try to also I’ve got to sit down and kind of knock out a plan I’ve done that before um my plans though I’ve got to do it from a different lens it’s not where I’m normally starting from because I’m coming back from an injury and so I need to look at for example like running um I need to go back back to time based and heart rate Based training so that I do basically 2 20 minutes 2 40 minutes and 160 minute run I think that’s where I want to start um and do that for the next until probably the end of January if I also have three to four swim sessions or my last swim I was finally able to swim more than 1,000 yards so that swim Fitness will come back pretty quickly I’ll be a little bit tired and the difficulty of course with Triathlon is basically we’re negotiating negotiating we’re navigating load because it is three Sports and with the three Sports we are

basically taking the load of the multiple Sports and trying to create the resilience so that we can in one day uh complete the three Sports uh within you know within time frame I don’t know that I have any time goals I think I would rather concentrate on being strong um similar to my last finish that when I did it with my friend Kevin um we kind of start in the water together uh and then we actually finished together caught him on the Run um and uh anyways but the year be I guess the the event before one of the things that um a remark of my wife was hey you don’t look super beat up and to me that was exactly what I was looking for um it was more of I finally found a way of doing this and not feeling destroyed and that was pretty much where I wanted to be now if speed comes along great um I’m sure that I can go much faster than what I’ve done at this point especially for the full um that of mechanical so that mechanical definitely sets me up to be able to do better there I just don’t know that we have it as a family with the stress and stuff if we have the capability for me to do a full um any anyways but the 70.3 you know it keeps me happy and healthy it gives me a place to train got to figure out how to work that in with uh family responsibilities work responsibilities and those things um but yeah so the big variable uh is going to be will my efforts go too fast or can I do it in a way that it allows me to build strength back into the lower hip inductor which will also allow me to be able to do these things my last swim the other day uh I swam I finally felt like Fitness was coming back like I wasn’t gassed yes I’ve always been able to uh outside of my first year I’ve been able to swim in a way that it allows me to get the workouts in the way that I want uh but the last few swims since the injury this year it’s just been tough so I’m able to do the physical therapy type uh Moves In The Water between laps so I do that for strength building for mobility and I will continue doing those things and the hope is is that come May um I’ll be able to participate once I get these funds from this uh I forgot that I had done it that way but once I get the funds and I’m hoping to wait until January because I’ve got to do my subscriptions uh through Ruby and I need training Peaks again to do this those are not cheap and then uh we get a $350 annual uh benefit from work so I can offset some of that and then with the uh renumeration or compensation from the nutrition study uh I’ll be able to fund this 70.3 without too much of an impact to us so we shall see how it all goes um starting to feel excited to get back to activity um been listening to never finished by Dave gogins and it’s interesting that listening to his story and I know that his story is much more dark than mine but listening to that story just kind of reminds me uh of some of the reasons why I like to do this stuff and uh I just think it’s benefit benefit benefit the difficulty of course is being the family person I am making it so it works for the family too so there we go finally an update I can actually post this one woohoo
