Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them — work, family, health, friends and spirit — and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls ~ family. health, friends and spirit — are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked. nicked. damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.
This is still a very interesting and often overlooked thing. Too often when validation and security aka listening are sought – we move too quickly. As a parent of Pathological Demand Avoidance kiddos, I’ve painstakingly learned that listening and observing leads to opportunities to validate, then receive context. Once consent is obtained, then we can establish a path to address and solve.

If I was to sum up the single biggest problem of senior leadership in the Information Age, it’s a lack of reflection. “Solitude allows you to reflect while others are reacting. For nothing delights so much as the examples of the virtues, when they are exhibited in the morals of those who live with us and present themselves in abundance, as far as is possible. Wherefore we must keep them before us.
Fitness post injury is a humbling thing to chase. Add on that I am about to hit 50 in June and mortality is a real thing. One day at a time, one workout session at a time.
