An Autistic neurotype is also responsible for the vast and expansive talents an individual may have, which oftentimes the medical-model approach neglects to acknowledge. AANE uses a neurodiversity-affirming lens and recognizes the deep, meaningful talents associated with an Autistic neurotype.

Dyslexia is a neurodivergent condition that affects how the brain processes information, particularly for reading and spelling.

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) or Dyspraxia is commonly associated with difficulties with movement, when in fact there are many strengths associated with this neurotype. Big picture thinking, problem solving, tenacity, creativity and empathy are all qualities associated with DCD.

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder that involves tics, which are sudden, involuntary movements or sounds. It’s part of a group of disorders called tic disorders.

Savant syndrome is a rare condition that occurs when someone has exceptional skills in one area of their life, while having disabilities in other areas. It’s often associated with autism, but it can also be caused by brain injury or other central nervous system disorders.
